Per Mark Daigneault, Thunder guard Hamidou Diallo is scheduled to miss the team’s next two games in Friday and Saturday’s back-to-back set vs. the Hawks and Nuggets. Diallo suffered a right groin injury in second the quarter of Wednesday’s contest against the Spurs, being ruled out for the game’s remainder.
“It’s not something we’re overly (concerned) about, but we’re gonna be cautious with him just like we are with everybody else.” Daigneault commented.
Head Coach Mark Daigneault also hinted at the potential for the 22-year-old to sit out an additional two games. If that were to be the case, the guard would be absent of the team’s remaining four games prior to the March 7 All-Star Game.
With Diallo out, Oklahoma City now will look towards other options to supply his bench minutes. Kenrich Williams and Justin Jackson may be lead candidates to net additional playing time as both players provided significant roles in the early parts of February. Oklahoma City Blue assignee Ty Jerome likely has his best opportunity at Thunder minutes now, however his gradual trajectory during his stay in Orlando could be a turn-off to trust him into NBA action.
